Terms of service

Once confirmed, a quote does not change. The catalogue package is quoted after a chat, depending on how many items.

Half is paid as a deposit once you confirm the quote, and work begins. The rest is paid after launch. If you cancel after paying the deposit it is not refunded, because the start has already cost time.

Launch prices go by the date a quote is confirmed: quotes confirmed during the launch period get the launch price, later ones the price at the time.

Share codes: every client who has paid a deposit has one. A new order (One-page or Catalogue) with a valid code is HK$1,000 less; once the new client pays their deposit, the sharer's next payment is HK$1,000 less. One code per new order, not your own code, no cash value. The student CV site is excluded: a code cannot be used on it, a CV order does not earn a code, and a sharer's HK$1,000 cannot be put towards one.

The build period counts from the day we have your photos and text: two weeks for One-page, four to six for Catalogue.

Two rounds of changes are included before launch. Further changes, or new requests after launch, are quoted separately.

We write the words; you supply the photos (we show you how). The site goes live only after you confirm the content; after launch its accuracy is your responsibility.

From HK$280 a month, or from HK$3,000 a year, depending on the size of the site, stated in the quote. It covers hosting, domain renewal, daily backups, and one small change a month of up to fifteen minutes.

Reminders go out at 7 and 21 days overdue; at 30 days the site is paused and comes back once paid.

Stopping the monthly service takes one month's notice; there is no long-term contract. When you stop, the site goes offline and you receive a static copy of it plus all your data.

The domain is registered in your account and is yours. The words, photos, product data and enquiries on your site are yours and can be taken at any time.

The site's code, design system and admin system are owned and maintained by Paperstem and licensed to you while the site runs; the licence ends when the service stops, but you keep the static copy.

You warrant that you have the right to use the photos and text you supply; third-party claims arising from them are your responsibility.

The site is hosted on Vercel and its data on Supabase, both global providers certified to ISO 27001. We do our best to keep the site up but cannot promise it never goes down; outages at those providers are outside our control.

Daily backups keep content and data; changes you make yourself in the admin or edit mode are not restored by us, though they can be handled as a small change.

How we handle the personal data you give us is set out in the privacy policy.

Enquiries and data your customers leave on your site belong to you; you are the data user. We handle them on your behalf as a data processor: only on your instructions, only while building and maintaining the site, for no other purpose, and we give them to no one else.

Each client's admin is separate; only accounts you authorise can sign in to yours.

When the service ends we hand the data back to you and delete our copies within thirty days, except where the law requires us to keep them.

If we find a data breach involving your site, we tell you as soon as we can and help you deal with it.

Our total liability for any one service is capped at the fees you paid us for that service in the previous twelve months.

We are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost business or profit.

Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Paperstem is a small studio in Hong Kong. Disputes are handled under Hong Kong law.

These terms may be updated from time to time; a confirmed quote follows the terms as they were when confirmed.

The student CV site is HK$600, paid once: we confirm the content and delivery date, you pay, and work begins. Once work has begun it is not refunded.

The page is laid out from what you send, in about a week, with one round of changes; later changes are quoted separately. There is no monthly fee and no editing admin.

It lives on a free subdomain we provide; if we ever stop providing it, we give one month's notice and hand you the site's files. With your own domain, you register it and it is charged at cost.

You confirm that what you send is true and that you have the right to use the photos and text.

If you are under 18, please get a parent's or guardian's consent before ordering; a parent or guardian may handle the payment and confirm the site's content.
